Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
